The Orange Bakery is a little bakery rooted in honest baking and community purpose. We're not open yet, but we're getting close!
Social purpose
Breaducating Britainis Kitty Taits (The co-founder and head baker of the Orange bakery) not-for-profit. It focuses on making baking accessible through education, community outreach, and practical workshops.
A portion of what the bakery earns goes directly back into that work. The two things are connected by design, not afterthought.
The goal is that through the orange bakery we will be able to give free bread kits and classes to every primary school in Britain over the next 10 years.
Ingredients & Community
We make all our doughs with spelt flour, use date syrup and organic spices in our buns, and source our ingredients as locally as we can from independent producers in London and across the UK.
A quiet preview
We're still finalising what the opening menu will look like. But here's a rough sense of what's coming.
Buns
We're so excited to make a range of savoury and sweet buns, inspired by bakeries and places around Europe, from Scandi cardamom sun buns to Eastern European paprika feta buns.
Breads
Based of our not for profit bread kit recipe, all our bread will be three- four ingredients, with a weekly 'funky friday' special flavoured loaf which our customers can vote on the flavour for.
Cakes & Bakes
Simple loaf cakes made with whole nutrient rich ingredients, like tahini, dates, buckwheat, seasonal fruit and veg, plus some indulgent gluten free bakes like pistachio cheesecake brownies and little chocolate orange cookies.
Little note from Kitty
I started baking because it helped me. It was slow, deliberate, and grounding. I wanted to share that with people, not as a product, but as something genuinely useful.
The Orange Bakery grew out of that feeling. It's a small thing, but I hope it matters to the people who find it.
